Vision:
Ontario's community medical laboratories are recognized by
government, other health care providers and the public as
an integral part of the health care system. Accurate, diagnostic
information, essential to the health of people, is delivered
to communities throughout Ontario in a timely and cost-effective
way.
Mission:
The Ontario Association of Medical Laboratories represents
its members to government, other health care providers and
to the public. The OAML strives:
- to promote excellence in the delivery of laboratory services
- to support the community laboratory industry as an essential
part of the health care system
- to influence the delivery of health care in Ontario
Goals:
- To encourage the highest level of professionalism, accountability,
and technical excellence in the provision of laboratory
services for the benefit of people in Ontario.
- On behalf of member laboratory services, to liaise with
government, professional associations and colleges and with
other health sectors in matters of legislation, programs
and policy.
- To work with health service providers and government to
effect positive change in the delivery of health care services
in Ontario.
- To encourage communication among community laboratories.
- To support "best use" testing in community laboratories,
thus to provide maximum value for public dollars in diagnostic
testing.
