| Hand washing, when done correctly, is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. Good hand washing technique can significantly reduce the spread of infection. Follow these simple steps: |
- Wet your hands with warm, running water.
- Add soap and rub your hands together to make a soapy lather for at least 10 seconds. Lather the front and back of your hands, between your fingers and under your nails.
- Rinse your hands under warm, running water, letting the water run into the sink, not down to your elbows.
- Turn off the water and dry your hands on a clean towel.
